Privacy Policy
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Smart Printer ("the app"), provided by Tripleace ("we", "us"), handles information. The app identifier on Android and iOS is com.tripleace.smartprinter. It covers printing documents and photos, photo layouts, document scanning, finding printers on your Wi‑Fi, saving PDFs, the in-app file list, and Smart Printer Premium subscriptions.
2. Information stored on your device
- Documents and files: PDF, Word, text and image files you choose are copied into the app’s private storage so you can preview, print and reopen them from Files. Word and text files are converted to PDF on the device.
- Photos: photos you pick with the system photo picker are read to build the printed layout; print-size copies are made on the device while you print.
- Scans: pages captured with the document scanner, your crop, filter and rotation choices, and PDFs you save from them.
- Preferences and counters: the printer you chose (its name and network address), paper and layout settings, your free-print counter, and your Premium status.
Smart Printer does not require an account. Our app code keeps your documents, photos and scans on your device and does not upload them to Tripleace servers or any cloud service we operate. We have no access to your files.
3. Printing and finding printers
When you print, the app hands the document to your device’s print system: AirPrint on iOS, or the Android print framework and the print services installed on your device (for example a printer maker’s plugin). The document is sent from your device to the printer you choose, usually over your local network. Print services from other companies handle print jobs under their own terms and policies.
To show printers near you, the app looks for printers on your Wi‑Fi using standard network discovery (Bonjour / mDNS) and may contact a printer to check that it can be reached. On iOS this requires the Local Network permission. This information (printer names, models and network addresses) stays on your device.
4. Document scanning
Scanning uses your device’s built-in document scanner: Apple VisionKit on iOS, and the Google ML Kit Document Scanner provided through Google Play services on Android. Pages are detected, cropped and corrected on the device and returned only to Smart Printer. ML Kit does not send the scanned images to Google; Google documents that ML Kit may collect technical diagnostics and usage information that does not include your scans. See ML Kit Terms & Privacy and Google’s ML Kit data disclosure.
5. Service providers and technical information
- Google Firebase Analytics: app usage events (for example screens viewed, features used, print and purchase events), app-instance identifiers, device and app information, and approximate region derived from IP address, to understand and improve the app.
- Google Firebase Crashlytics: crash reports and diagnostic logs, device and operating system details, and an installation identifier, to find and fix problems.
- Google Firebase Remote Config: an installation identifier and app/device details, to deliver app configuration.
- Google AdMob: described in section 6.
- Google Play and Apple App Store: described in section 7.
These providers process information under their own terms, including the Google Privacy Policy, How Google uses information from apps that use its services and Firebase privacy information. Your documents, photos, scans and file names are not sent to these providers by our app code.
6. Advertising
The free version of Smart Printer may show ads provided by Google AdMob; Smart Printer Premium removes ads. To serve and measure ads, AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID or, with your permission, the iOS IDFA), IP address, device and app information, and ad interaction data. Your documents, photos and scans are never used for ads.
Where required (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), the app shows a consent form from Google’s User Messaging Platform before ads are personalised. On iOS, the app may ask for App Tracking Transparency permission; if you decline, the IDFA is not shared and ads may be less relevant. You can also reset or limit your advertising ID in your device settings. See how Google uses advertising data.
7. Purchases
Smart Printer Premium subscriptions are sold and billed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. Payment details are handled by the store; we never receive your card number or billing address. The app receives purchase and subscription status from the store (such as product, purchase token or transaction identifiers, and whether a subscription is active) and checks it on the device to unlock Premium. Purchase events may be recorded in Firebase Analytics.
8. Permissions and controls
- Camera: used by the system document scanner when you scan.
- Photos: Smart Printer uses the system photo picker, so it only receives the photos you choose.
- Files: the system file picker gives the app only the files you choose. Saving a PDF writes to the location you pick (Files on iOS, Downloads on Android).
- Local Network (iOS) and network access: used to find and reach printers on your Wi‑Fi, for ads, purchases, and the services in section 5, not to upload your files.
- Tracking (iOS): optional; see section 6.
You can revoke permissions in your device settings. Declining a permission limits the corresponding feature; for example, without Local Network access the app cannot list printers, but you can still choose a printer in the system print dialog. Smart Printer does not request location, contacts, microphone or SMS access.
9. Sharing
We do not sell your documents, photos or scans, and do not use them for advertising. Your printer, the print services on your device, Google, Apple and your device’s backup service may process information as described above and under their own policies. When you share or export a file, it goes to the app or destination you choose.
If you email support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send, such as messages or screenshots. Do not send passwords, payment details or unnecessary personal information. We use support correspondence to respond and resolve issues. Information we hold may also be disclosed when legally required, to protect rights or security, or in a lawful business transfer.
Where required by applicable data protection law, processing is based on providing the features you request, your consent where asked, our legitimate interests in app reliability, improvement and support, or legal obligations, as applicable.
10. Retention, deletion and security
Documents, scans and settings stay on your device until you delete them in the app or uninstall Smart Printer. Deleting a file in the app removes the app’s copy; the original file or photo you picked is not affected. Uninstalling the app removes its local data. App data may be included in your device backup (for example iCloud, or Android backup) according to your device settings.
Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription; manage it in Google Play or App Store settings. Information held by Google, Apple or other providers follows their retention practices; for example, Firebase Analytics data is retained for the period configured in our Firebase project. Support messages are kept only as long as needed for the request and applicable obligations.
Local data is kept in app-private storage protected by the operating system, and network traffic to service providers uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Print jobs travel over your local network to your printer using the protocol your printer supports. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so protect your device with a screen lock and use a trusted network for printing.
11. Privacy rights and children
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or US state privacy laws such as the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, request portability, withdraw consent, or complain to a data protection authority. Contact us below; we may need to verify your request and can act only on information we control. Files on your device are under your control through the app and device settings. We do not sell personal information as defined by those laws for money; ad-related sharing is controlled by the consent and device options in section 6.
Smart Printer is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information so we can review it.
12. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when features or providers change. We will revise the date above and provide additional notice or ask for consent where required.
